Bird species differ by location, as you would expect, so to complete your Life List you'll need to plan out your Birding trips by consulting the Field Guide.

Improve your spotting skills, complete your Life List

Fine-tune your real world spotting skills, and complete your in-game Life List by correctly identifying birds in each of the four locations.

Consult the in-game field guide to brush up on the field markings for a species, and to listen to its call.

You can spot birds by eye, or with the aid of the in-game binoculars. Over the course of your virtual birding career you can progressively unlock three pairs of binoculars, each with more powerful optics.

Don't scare the birds

An on-screen "Fright-Meter" gives you feedback on how scared the birds are - train yourself to keep a respectfully distance and use cover to approach birds without scaring them.

Plan your approach so that you can get a good close-up view of your target bird before spotting or photographing it.

Correctly identify species to earn rewards

When you've positioned yourself to observe a target species, use the binoculars to zoom-in for a close-up view. You can then check out the field markings before making an identification.

When you are ready to identify the target, just click the mouse and you will be asked to choose between three possible species.

Choose correctly and you will be credited with an entry in your Life List for spotting the bird at the current location. Spot the species in all locations listed in the field guide in order to earn a spotting badge for the species, and unlock rewards.
